The Philippine Commission on Audit (COA) has been elected to the Governing Board of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), which promotes understanding and cooperation among audit institutions in the region.
The COA was one of the seven institutions voted as a member of the governing board in New Delhi, India, along with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.
“[B]eing elected as a member of the ASOSAI GB is one of the highlights of the Assembly,” COA said in a statement released Sunday.
The Governing Board is the executive arm of the ASOSAI, which in turn is one of the regional groups of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
“COA’s participation in the ASOSAI Assembly reflects its dedication and commitment to upholding international auditing standards and promoting collaboration,” COA said.
COA is also the incumbent chair of the ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI), and the INTOSAI Working Group on Public Debt. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
