COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Policemen foiled on Tuesday, September 3, an attempt by a courier to deliver P340,000 worth of shabu to an interior barangay in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur.
Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, told reporters on Wednesday that they are now in custody of the suspect, Jack Macaalay, who was intercepted by policemen while on his way somewhere in the municipality to deliver P340,000 worth of shabu to a contact.
Macaalay was apprehended at a roadside checkpoint in Barangay Buayan by personnel of the Datu Piang Municipal Police Station, led by Captain Razul Pandulo, and operatives from the Maguindanao Del Sur Provincial Police Office, who had waited for him when informants reported that he would be passing, riding a tricycle, bringing with him 50 grams of shabu for a buyer in the area.
Barangay officials said Macaalay jumped out of the tricycle when he noticed the security road block and ran away, but was eventually cornered by policemen hiding along the route as a blocking force.
The still unidentified driver of the tricycle he hired to bring him to Barangay Buayan had sped away, now subject of a joint manhunt by policemen and barangay officials.
