MANILA, Philippines — A Pasig City court has put on hold the transfer of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame to the Pasig City Jail.

The order was issued by Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 187 Presiding Judge Annielyn Medes-Cabelis after Gou’s camp filed a motion opposing her transfer due to the alleged threat to her life.

Medes-Cabelis directed the National Capital Region Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to “hold in abeyance the transfer of the custody of the accused-movant pending the resolution of the subject motion.”

“This is to safeguard the rights of the accused-movant and so as not to deprive her of the remedies that are available to her under the Rules of Court,” the judge said.

Arrest warrants were earlier issued against Guo and 15 others for qualified trafficking charges, a non-bailable offense.
