A Pasig City court on Monday ordered to hold in abeyance the transfer of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo to the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory from the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

“…The Chief of the NCR CIDG Custodial Facility, Camp Crame, Quezon City is DIRECTED to hold in abeyance the transfer of the custody of the accused-movant pending the resolution of the subject motion,” the court order read.

“This is to safeguard the rights of the accused-movant and so as not to deprive her of the remedies that are available to her under the Rules of Court,” it added.

On Monday morning, Guo was transferred to Pasig jail from the detention facility in Camp Crame.

Guo’s transfer was earlier ordered by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court-Branch 167, which is hearing her non-bailable case of qualified human trafficking.

Atty. Nicole Jamilla, Guo’s legal counsel, told reporters that their camp filed an urgent motion to transfer her detention to PNP Custodial because of the supposed threats to the dismissed mayor.

“So naka-set for hearing siya on September 27 on Friday simultaneous with the arraignment. And with that, pending the resolution of the motion, the court issued an order to hold in abeyance her transfer here to PNP Custodial,” she added.

Jamilla said they are now coordinating with the authorities on Guo’s return to the PNP Custodial Center.

“As of today we will be coordinating first with the authorities kasi ang napag-usapan, ang update is that CIDG talaga ang may physical custody sa kaniya,” Jamilla said.

(As of today we will be coordinating first with the authorities because based on what we have discussed, the update was that CIDG actually has physical custody of her.)

“That’s why we have to confirm, coordinate with them kung papaano mangyayari ‘yung transfer uli sa kaniya pabalik sa custodial facility,”” she added.

(That’s why we have to confirm, coordinate with them how her return to the custodial facility will happen.)

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Joseph told GMA News Online that the agency will follow if there is a new order to transfer Guo back to PNP Custodial Center.

“Wala naman po nakalagay dyan na dalhin namin pabalik. If may new order to transfer, then we will comply (The order does not say anything about transferring her back. If there is a new order to transfer, then we will comply),” Bustinera said.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
