Cyrus Cuenco registered a career-high as Mapua University bounced back and defeated San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 91-72, on Friday in NCAA Season 100 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Cuenco waxed hot from beyond the arc with four triples en route to a 26-point outing, while reigning Most Valuable Player Clint Escamis had 25 points as the Cardinals improved to 4-2.
San Sebastian, meanwhile, was dealt its fifth straight loss after the opening the season with back-to-back wins.
After a slim 39-35 lead at the first half, the Intramuros-based squad pounded on the third frame as it outscored the Golden Stags, 26-13. Mapua led by as much as 20 points just before the final buzzer.
Aside from Cuenco and Escamis, rookie Chris Hubilla had 12 points for Mapua.
TJ Felebrico and Rafael Are combined for 37 points off the bench, with the former almost posting a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Mapua will face Jose Rizal University on Sunday while the Golden Stags will return to action on Tuesday against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
