Election officer Gladiel Jim Casinto said as of July 15, the number of registered voters of Tagum reached 175,000. He is yet to provide the total number of those who signed up during the entire registration period.

Casinto said they validated a number of registered first-time voters, but also invalidated some. “And, with these additional days of registration, I think we are still in the 100,000 more of registered voters,” he added. They are yet to process a long file of documents on voters’ registration.

Meanwhile, Casinto said they are ready to accept the Certificates of Candidacy (COC) of aspiring political candidates as early as 8:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1.

He said the Comelec already coordinated with Tagum City Police Chief Colonel Wildemar Tiu to safeguard peace and order during Day 1 of the COC filing period until it ends on October 8. There will be police officers deployed to monitor the situation and ensure everyone’s safety.
