The approved budget is in alignment with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to harness the nation’s educational potential, supporting critical initiatives such as the construction of new classrooms, rehabilitation of school facilities, the DepEd computerization program, procurement of learning tools and equipment and teacher recruitment and training, the school-based feeding program and government assistance and subsidies.
Funding will also be allocated to DepEd’s attached agencies, such as the National Book Development Board, National Council for Children’s Television, National Museum, Philippine High School for the Arts, Early Childhood Care and Development Council, and National Academy of Sports.
Zamora emphasized the importance of the budget in enhancing the quality of basic education.
“This funding will empower DepEd to continue its mission of providing quality education, ensuring that our learners are prepared for the future’s challenges and opportunities,” Zamora said.
