Actor and Philippine Navy Reservist Major Dingdong Dantes participated in a flag-raising ceremony at Rizal Park on Sept. 23, honoring seafarers and reservists as part of the National Maritime and Reservists Month celebrations.
Dantes described the event as a deeply memorable experience in an Instagram post, saying, “This September, we celebrated National Maritime and Reservist Month, standing beneath the largest flag in the country, at the site where our National Hero is memorialized—a truly unforgettable experience.”
The ceremony paid tribute to the contributions of maritime officers, personnel, and reservists in strengthening the nation’s security.
Dantes had the honor of reciting the poem Pagpupugay sa Busilak na Bandila by Divine Gil Reyes. He also expressed how the speech by Monique Pronove, founder of the Salute to a Clean Flag Movement, resonated with him so much that he requested a signed copy.
“A snappy salute to all our seafarers, reservists, and those who selflessly serve our country. Today, and throughout this month, we honor their unwavering dedication and sacrifice,” Dantes wrote.
Dantes has been a Philippine Navy reservist since 2006.
