MANILA, Philippines — The number of active mpox cases has climbed to 18, the Department of Health (DOH) reported yesterday.
“Five of these 18 cases have recovered. They have been released from isolation,” Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said.
The four new mpox cases are male: two from Metro Manila and two from Calabarzon.
Aside from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, eight state-owned hospitals are ready to conduct mpox testing: East Avenue Medical Center, Baguio General Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, San Lazaro Hospital, Vicente Sotto Medical Center, Southern Philippines Medical Center, Western Visayas Medical Center and Bicol Medical Center.
Meanwhile, dengue cases nationwide have increased to 208,965 as of Sept. 6. The figure is higher compared to 124,157 cases logged in the same period in 2023.
