Over 1.6 million people have been affected by Tropical Storm Enteng and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Thursday.
In its 8 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said a total of 1,610,322 people, or 410,371 families, were affected by the bad weather in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Cordillera, and Metro Manila.
Most of the affected people were reported in Bicol with 1,092,422.
Of the total affected population, 36,399 or 8,842 families were staying in 297 evacuation centers while 14,648 people or 5,005 families were taking shelter in other places.
The reported death toll due to Enteng and Habagat is 13, according to the NDRRMC. Fifteen people were reported missing while 11 were injured, it added.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Wednesday reported that 15 people were dead, 21 were missing, and 15 were wounded due to Enteng.
Damage to infrastructure worth P63,454,392 and to agriculture worth P1,231,420 were reported, according to the NDRRMC.
A total of 651 houses were damaged—603 partially and 48 partially.
Power outages, water supply problems, and communication line issues were reported amid the onslaught of Enteng and Habagat.
Some passengers were stranded as some flights and sea trips were suspended due to the inclement weather.
Classes and work schedules were also suspended in different cities and towns in the country.
A state of calamity was declared in Naga City.
Assistance worth P64,690,945 has been provided to the victims so far, according to the NDRRMC.
