A 28-year-old father was arrested by authorities in Quezon City after he attempted to sell his 11-month-old baby online.
According to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the man used his baby as a “human shield” when the agents from the National Bureau of Investigation-Special Task Force conducted an entrapment operation.
The NBI-STF had discovered that the suspect offered his baby for sale in an online post.
NBI-STF agent Lolibeth Jane Calisi said that the suspect put a P55,000 tag price on his child.
Authorities said that the suspect attempted to sell his child as revenge for his ex-partner’s refusal to get back together.
The baby was rescued and was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The NBI-STF said the suspect, who refused to give a comment, would face charges of child trafficking and resistance and disobedience to a person in authority. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/VBL, GMA Integrated News
