Director Arvin Belarmino continues to represent the Philippines on the international stage as he takes part in the 6th Dili International Film Festival (DIFF), serving as a mentor for its inaugural short filmmaking workshop.
Titled Short Filmmaking 101, the workshop focused on the art of storytelling through expressive visuals, as well as directing and scriptwriting for short films.

“Had the great opportunity to share my film journey here in Dili, Timor Leste. I’m truly blessed and honored,” Belarmino shared in a social media post.
Belarmino has been making a name for himself in both the local and international film industries, with his films receiving recognition from prestigious festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, Minikino Film Festival, Asiana International Short Film Festival, and Interfilm Berlin Short Film Festival, among others.
In addition to DIFF, Belarmino will also be attending the 5th Tokyo Gap-Financing Market at the Tokyo International Film Festival’s TIFFCOM for his debut feature Ria.
The Dili International Film Festival celebrates creativity and diverse cultures, aiming to inspire young local filmmakers to enhance their skills as they craft their own stories.
DIFF 2024 runs from Sept. 26 to Oct. 12.
