BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — At least 454 persons were dislocated after a fire destroyed 106 houses in Barangay 5 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Friday.
Mayor Renato Gustilo said yesterday that a person surrendered to the police and admitted that an unattended lighted candle started the blaze.
He added that the City Social Welfare and Development Office is providing affected residents with food and other basic items as they stay at the gymnasium of the neighboring Barangay 4.
