MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos and her sons took to social media to wish President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who turned 67 on Friday, assuring him that his family had his back.
In a Facebook post, the first lady praised her husband for his accomplishments.
“Happy 67th birthday to the sweetest and kindest soul I’ve ever known,” Araneta-Marcos captioned in a collage of their photos, together with their sons, Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, Joseph Simon Marcos, and William Vincent Marcos.
“I’m so proud of everything you’ve accomplished, and through it all, you’ve remained the same tender-hearted, compassionate person who first captured my heart. I love you to the moon and back, and I always will,” she added.
President Marcos is in Nueva Ecija on Friday morning for the launch of Agripuhunan at Pantawid Program and the distribution of Certificates of Condonation in Agriculture and turnover of Agri Credit Assistance.
Later in the day, Malacañang will host a “Salo-Salo sa Palasyo” for the President’s birthday, which will be opened to the public.
In a vlog, Marcos’ sons also greeted their “cool dad” on his special day, and looked back on their best memories with him.
“I think it’s no secret that I respect him hugely and I’ve learned so much from him and I continue to learn so much from him,” said Sandro, the President’s first-born.
“Pop, happy, happy birthday! We all love you so much and I hope you know we will always be behind you, 100 percent,” he added.
Simon, the second of three brothers, said he wished that the President would stay as an “awesome guy,” saying his father taught him to never stop learning.
“Mainly just to always partake in whatever new or whatever is in front of you. Just to always ask questions and to always learn. I think, as a general rule, if you’re on that path, you can’t really go wrong,” Simon said.
Meanwhile, youngest son Vincent wished for his father to have free time despite his busy schedule.
“Happy birthday, Pop! Please don’t get too stressed out. Try and find some free time to go camping or– I mean camping might be hard now but, yeah, just wish you had more free time,” Vincent said.
Marcos, the 17th president of the Philippines, was born on Sept. 13, 1957. He and first lady Liza were married on April 17, 1993, at the San Francesco Convent in Fiesole, Italy.
