Former “Idol Philippines” contestant Enzo Almario has come forward to reveal that he experienced sexual abuse early in his singing career.
In a YouTube video posted by singer Gerald Santos, Santos shared that Almario disclosed he was also a rape victim of musical director Danny Tan when he was just 12 years old, during his time as a member of the musical group Sugarpop.
The singer also shared that Enzo took Gerald’s testimony as a sign for him to finally speak up about his bad experience.
Recently, Gerald identified Tan as his alleged sexual abuser when he was 15 years old.
He also said on the video that Enzo had already given his testimony about his experience which happened in 2008.
“It took some time bago lumabas si Enzo dahil hindi po biro ‘yung pinagdaanan niya.
On the other hand, Enzo took to his Instagram to encourage everyone who had experienced the same thing to “speak up and free yourself”.
“To anyone else who was a victim of this person, speak up and free yourself. This wasn’t our fault; HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF OUR INNOCENCE,” wrote Enzo.
“I sincerely hope to get justice, not just for ourselves, but for the potential victims he may be targeting and everyone he already preyed on,” he added.
