Stell, the lead singer and choreographer of the globally popular P-pop group SB19, gears up for The Voice Kids, which premieres tomorrow night.

Joining him as returning coaches are Julie Anne San Jose and Billy Crawford, while Dingdong Dantes resumes his role as host. SB19’s Pablo also joins the show as a new coach.

In a recent media conference, Stell shared his thoughts on the upcoming season and his approach to coaching young contestants. Drawing from his past success with The Voice Generations, where his team, Vocalmyx, emerged victorious, Stell emphasized that he does not feel pressured to replicate that achievement. Instead, he is focused on ensuring that the young contestants enjoy the experience.

“Honestly, I don’t feel pressured. My focus is on enjoying the experience and helping the kids make the most of it. I don’t want people to expect my team to win again this season,” Stell told Manila Standard Entertainment.

“Instead, I want the children to relish the opportunity, as it’s something unique they won’t experience again. I didn’t have the chance to participate in a singing contest when I was younger, so I want them to feel free from pressure and work together as a team,” he added.

Stell acknowledged that mentoring children presents its own set of challenges, different from his previous experience with adults.

While he has some experience with young family members, guiding kids with big dreams is a unique responsibility. He aims to encourage them and support their growth without compromising their aspirations.

“While I have experience being around young family members, mentoring kids with big dreams is a different experience. My goal is to encourage them and help them grow without negatively impacting their dreams,” he said.

“The real challenge will be guiding them during the ‘Blind Auditions’ and then making difficult decisions in the ‘Battle Rounds’ and beyond. It’s akin to being a parent who must make tough choices. However, I believe my previous experience has improved my decision-making skills. At the end of the day, this is still a competition,” the P-pop idol added.

To motivate the young contestants, Stell advises them to give their all and show that they deserve their place in the competition. He is committed to helping them achieve their goals and is prepared to tackle the challenges ahead. Stell expressed his hope that, like the contestants, he too would achieve his dreams for the show, and together, they could make the most of this opportunity.

“I encourage them to give their best because each child has their own dream, and some might be bigger than others. I want them to demonstrate that they deserve to be in the competition, and I will do everything in my capacity to help them reach their goals. It’s a big challenge, but I’m ready for it. Like them, I have dreams for this show, and I hope we can achieve those dreams together,” Stell concluded.

The Voice Kids, by ITV Studios, finds its new home in the Philippines on GMA-7. The talent reality show, which features young singers aged between 7 and 14, airs every Sunday night at 7:05.
