The 2024 Venice Film Festival red carpet was a mesmerizing display of haute couture, with Hollywood's most prominent figures adorned in bespoke gowns and classic tuxedos. The festival, which graced the island of Lido, Venice, from August 30 to September 9, marked its 81st edition this year. As always, the festival served not only as a platform for international film premieres but also as a closely watched stage for the most glamorous creations of the world's most decadent fashion houses for cinema's most celebrated performers.
Julianne Moore turned heads on the opening night of the festival in a floor-length gold sequin Bottega Veneta dress with a plunging neckline, cementing her status as a red-carpet icon.
At the premiere of George Clooney and Brad Pitt's action-comedy “Wolfs” on September 1, Cate Blanchette dazzled in a custom black velvet gown from Louis Vuitton with an elegant silhouette. Meanwhile, Clooney opted for classic elegance in a black-and-white tuxedo as his wife, Amal Clooney, exuded sophistication in a butter-colored ruffled lace gown by Atelier Versace. Lastly, Amy Ryan added a burst of color with her pink gown from Alexis Mabille's Spring 2021 Haute Couture collection.
At an Armani Beauty-hosted event on September 3, Blanchett emerged anew, donned a daring ensemble by Armani Privé, featuring a halterneck top made of intricately beaded strings paired with high-rise velvet pants.
At the prestigious amfAR Gala on September 7, Hollywood's brightest stars continued to shine. Eva Longoria stunned in a high-collared Alberta Ferretti gown, while Kate Beckinsale wore a striking Sabina Bilenko piece. Kelly Rowland also graced the event in a floor-length white gown by Cheney Chan Haute Couture, accessorized with Chopard jewels. Rumer Willis also turned heads in a chocolate silk gown by Georges Chakra while Stella Maxwell dazzled in Elie Saab.
Elsewhere, Maxwell impressed again in an exquisite Iris van Herpen Haute Couture dress adorned with crystalline tulle. Nicole Kidman closed out the fashion week with her premiere of Netflix mini-series “The Perfect Marriage” on September 8 in a Schiaparelli Fall 2024 couture gown, featuring a structured corset with beaded fringe and a velvet column skirt.
Whether the festival's 50th or 90th edition, one thing is for sure — Hollywood celebrities will never fail to bring glamour and elegance wherever they go, and the Venice Film Festival was yet another testament to their timeless style.
