SEN. Bong Go led a relief operation for 2,006 families affected by a recent fire in Barangay 105, Tondo.
“I promised ever since that we will come to help you no matter where you are in the Philippines — regardless of fire, volcanic eruption, earthquake and typhoon — and leave a little smile to ease your grief,” Go said in Filipino.
Go and his Malasakit Team distributed grocery packs, water containers, snacks, vitamins, masks, shirts, sports equipment, as well as shoes, mobile phones, bicycles, and watches to selected recipients.
Go said during the event that the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) was undergoing modernization to enhance its capabilities in responding to fire-related incidents.
Republic Act 11589, known as the BFP Modernization Act of 2021, was primarily authored and co-sponsored by Go.
Go is also the principal author and one of the co-sponsors of Senate Bill 2451, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which seeks to establish mandatory evacuation centers in all cities and municipalities across the Philippines.
