A total of P390-million has been released to cover the relief operations for Filipinos affected by tropical storm ‘Enteng,’ House Speaker Martin Romualdez said Tuesday, in response to the directive of President Marcos.

The storm caused widespread flooding in Metro Manila and Calabarzon provinces earlier this week, leaving many communities in urgent need of government assistance.

Romualdez said his office will be distributing 35,000 food packs—including canned goods, noodles and rice—to evacuees in Metro Manila and Rizal beginning Tuesday. The initiative will be conducted in partnership with Tingog party-list.

“We prioritized securing additional financial aid for the hardest-hit districts, following President Marcos’ directive to support those affected by the storm,” he said.

“My heartfelt sympathies are with all Filipino families affected by Enteng. The flooding in the National Capital Region and Calabarzon, especially soon after Typhoon Carina, is a heavy burden,” Romualdez noted.

The financial aid, amounting to P10 million per affected congressional district, will be distributed through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).

The assistance aims to provide P10,000 to each affected family, offering them immediate relief to start rebuilding their lives. Romualdez thanked his colleagues in the House of Representatives for moving swiftly to facilitate this request.

The cash aid will be directed to the most vulnerable residents in the storm’s path, covering 39 congressional districts represented by various lawmakers.

Romualdez likewise urged continued solidarity in the recovery efforts, emphasizing that while challenges lie ahead, with compassion and determination, rebuilding is possible. “To the victims, please take care and remember that we are with you every step of the way,” he said.
