Detained former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is present at the resumption of the Senate public hearing on the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) on Tuesday with her staffer Catherine Salazar, who acted as her so-called ‘doppelganger’ to confuse authorities, was also in attendance.
Sual, Pangasinan Mayor Liseldo Calugay also made his first appearance in the ongoing congressional inquiry chaired by Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality.
Cassandra Li Ong, the authorized representative of Lucky South 99, was also mentioned among the list of resource persons in the latest episode of the ongoing POGO probe in the Senate, which already entered its “Season 2,” according Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada.
Calugay was the first one in the hot seat with lawmakers questioning the nature of his relationship with the disgraced Bamban mayor. He was suspected of aiding Guo and her siblings during their short-lived escape in July.
“Magkaibigan lang po kami (We are just friends),” Calugay told the senators when asked if he and Guo are romantically linked.
