(UPDATES) THE House of Representatives’ quad committee on Thursday cited lawyer Harry Roque in contempt for refusing to submit the documents it required of him.
The panel decided to detain Roque until he submits the documents or until it ends its hearings on Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).
The committee ruled to hold him in the House’s detention facility.

The panel issued a subpoena for the deed of sale of a lot, Roque’s income tax return, 2016-2022 SALNs (statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth), and a trust agreement.
During Thursday’s hearing, Batangas Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro said the motion to quash earlier submitted by Roque was denied because he “raised the same arguments which have been deliberated upon already during the last hearing.”
In a post on his Facebook page, Roque, the former spokesman of former president Rodrigo Duterte, called the quad panel’s probe “a political inquisition against the Duterte family and me as their outspoken ally.”
He said he was being ordered to submit documents that have nothing to do with POGOs.
Among the documents that he mentioned were his and his wife’s tax returns from 2014 to 2022 and a “deed of sale with tax returns and transfer of property.”
Roque reiterated in an online interview on Thursday he had nothing to do with the POGO Lucky South 99.
House leaders in August denied that politics was behind the quad committee investigation.
