Fashion designer Francis Libiran has enticed the entire nation with his “Sinag” Barong, which he designed for the Philippine athletes who represented the country during the Paris Olympics 2024. He also recently released his latest wedding collection called “Francis Libiran Covenant” through a fashion gala showcasing all of his brilliant designs.

With his creative mind working around the clock to make designs that catch the eye of all who perceive them, one couldn’t help but wonder how he manages to craft all of his creations without eventually losing ideas.

Libiran himself answered that question during his appearance on the show Art 2 Art with Lisa Macuja Elizalde last Sept. 24. The designer shared that creative blocks—something that people in the creative industry usually experience when they cannot seem to create a piece of art that is satisfying to them—are something that he tries not to think about too much.

“If you think of it too much, it will happen to you, so I do the reverse way of telling myself that you need to focus, you need to produce [something],” he said.

Libiran also added that a method he uses when he feels like he will have a creative block is doing anything that makes him feel good.

“I’ll do [that] so that I’ll go back to that state again in designing,” he said.

Art 2 Art with Lisa Macuja Elizalde is a show by radio station DZRH that revolves around topics about culture and the arts. It is hosted by Elizalde, who is the artistic director of the ballet company Ballet Manila.
