MANILA, Philippines — The Indonesian government wants to do a prisoner swap: with the Philippines — a drug suspect in exchange for Alice Guo who is now under the custody of its police, according to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.

Remulla said this request would facilitate the process of bringing back Guo to the Philippines.

Indonesia is reportedly asking the Philippine government to exchange Guo with Gregor Johan Haas who was arrested last May 15.

Haas, 46, was apprehended by the Bureau of Immigration in Bogo, Cebu after the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) issued a red notice following a criminal complaint filed against him by Indonesian authorities.

Haas has been described as a “high-profile fugitive” for being an alleged member of the Sinaloa cartel, an international organized crime syndicate based in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico involved in drug trafficking and money laundering activities.

Indonesian authorities have implicated Haas in an attempt to smuggle into Indonesia in December a shipment of floor ceramics filled with more than five kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride also known as shabu.
