ANOTHER delegation from Japan, the second in less than a month, has expressed the intention of the Japanese government to significantly develop and enhance the country’s postal infrastructure through advanced digital strategies.

The intention was expressed during the recent visit of consultants from the Japan Post Service, the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and Toshiba, Postmaster General Luis Carlos said on Wednesday.

During their visit last September 8, the Japanese delegates conducted a comprehensive study of the mail and parcel distribution at the Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City.

Carlos said Japan’s support aims to modernize PHLPost’s services, incorporating cutting-edge technology to address the evolving needs of the growing e-commerce sector.

He said Japan will assist in developing the country’s postal service to enhance and strengthen the mail processing at its office of exchange and return of operations of the banking service.

The cooperation is expected to bring back post office reliability and successfully enter the e-commerce business, he said.

Japan Post runs the world’s largest postal savings system and is often said to be the largest holder of personal savings in the world.

Carlos expressed his appreciation to the Japanese government for fully supporting the PHLPost.
