THE Judiciary on Thursday asked the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives for an additional P12.5 billion to its P84-billion budget for 2025.
“The total variance is P20.82 billion,” Supreme Court Administrator Raul Villanueva told the panel.
“We are only asking for reconsideration [of] the total amount of P12.53 billion or 60 percent of the amount that was excluded with respect to what we have submitted or proposed for 2025.”

The additional amount was for the Supreme Court, Presidential Electoral Tribunal, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, and Court of Tax Appeals, Villanueva said.
The judiciary’s allocation for 2024 was P63 billion. It proposed P84 billion under the 2025 National Expenditure Program.
The appropriations panel is conducting budget deliberations to craft the General Appropriations Bill for 2025.
