MANILA, Philippines — Three years after singer-comedienne K Brosas filed a legal complaint against a contractor who allegedly “abandoned” her after releasing P7 million for her dream house, she is “very confident” that the case will be ruled in her favor.
“The case is ongoing. We will have our last hearing but it’s up to the court,” she told The STAR in an exclusive interview during an event for TV5’s newest series “Ang Himala Ni Niño.” The cast members of the show, where K is part of, held a “Back to Eskwela Grand Activity Fair” last Thursday at Camarin Elementary School in Caloocan.
“What I can say is that the evidence is very overwhelming so I’m pretty much confident. I’m confident that justice (will be served). I won’t say the name of the contractor although it’s on public record in QC’s (court),” she continued.
“Just one hearing and so far I’m confident that it will be in my favor. Because you couldn’t really deny it. I have a lot of receipts. Let’s not lose hope… So hopefully, maibalik lang.”
“I filed the case three years ago but the stress that I went through, ang tagal. I think it’s been seven years. Let’s claim it.”
In those times that she has been waiting for the verdict of the case, K maintained that she didn’t give up. “Because I know I’m on the right path. As long as you’re on the right path, you’re not hiding anything, you would fight. The funds that I released, it’s not confidential so I wasn’t afraid to face the court. For me, the truth is on my side.”
K hired a new contractor and architect to continue constructing the house located in Quezon City. She has been living there for two years now. “I paid at an extra cost, sad to say. It’s the sad reality because I couldn’t just leave it there. So I hired a new architect, contractor and spent millions. So now, labada pa more (I’m working even harder).”
Apart from her owned house, K bought another lot in Bataan where she plans to build a beach house. It’s a sort of a retirement investment for K.
The beach house is a dream project of K and her daughter because they both love the beach.
“Yung contractor ko, matino. Nadala na ko. The contractor that I employed for my house is the same for my beach house. He is very transparent. He was referred to me by my lawyer,” she said.
K was also glad that she was able to help her current contractor. “He gained more clients after I featured him on my vlogs. I’m happy that I was able to help him in his career.”
Following the incident that happened to her in 2021, K shared that she is more cautious now and just taking things slow. “I’m not in a hurry this time. Before kasi, I paid everything in just one year. But this one, it’s just a lot. Once we start constructing the beach house, I will make sure of it and dahan-dahan talaga.”
On her love life, K mentioned that she is open to dating but at this point in her life, she is “happy and content” with her career, house and family. “So I think I’m good. I’m too blessed to be stressed.”
She has been single for nine years. “Walang nagpaparamdam (in those nine years). I wasn’t looking for it, maybe that’s why it wasn’t given to me. They say that if you prioritize it, baka ibigay. But we’ll see.”
Meanwhile, in TV5’s “Ang Himala Ni Niño,” K portrays a second mother figure to Niño, played by Zion Cruz. The show will air starting Sept. 30, 11:15 a.m., from Mondays to Fridays, before “Eat Bulaga.”
