State weather bureau PAGASA announced that water in La Mesa Dam already reached 80.20 meters, way beyond its 80.15 m limit, as of Wednesday morning.

“It is expected to continue to rise due to moderate to occasional heavy rains caused by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon,” PAGASA said in its advisory.

As such, communities in low-lying areas are advised to stay alert of possible flashfloods as water level will increase further along the Tullahan River.

Affected areas include Fairview, Forest Hills Subdivision, Quirino Highway, Santa Quiteria and San Bartolome in Quezon City; North Expressway and La Huerta Subdivision in Valenzuela City, as well as Malabon City.

“The DOST-PAGASA shall continue to monitor the hyrdrological condition of the La Mesa Dam and provide updates to the concerned agencies and LGUs (local government units),” the state weather bureau said.
