MANILA, Philippines — Lee Seung-gi hopes that the GMA-7 adaptation of his 2009 Korean drama “Shining Inheritance” will be a “great hit” in the Philippines.
“I would like to thank the production, the director, all the actors, and the staff for remaking such a great drama and hopefully it becomes a great hit in the Philippines as well. Fighting!” said the star in Korean in a video uploaded by GMA.
Seung-gi played the role of chaebol (South Korean conglomerate run by a family) heir Hwan Sunwoo, who is described as rude and bratty. Hwan meets Go Eun-sung (played by Han Hyo-joo), whom he initially hates for being a threat to his inheritance after his grandmother bequeaths her will to the formerly rich-turned-poor girl.
In the Filipino adaptation, his role will be portrayed by relative newcomer Michael Sager.
Kate Valdez will portray Inna, Hyo-joo’s Eun-sung in the Korean drama, while Coney Reyes is cast as Euan’s (Sager) grandmother named Aurea or Lola Pink.
GMA-7’s “Shining Inheritance” premieres on GMA-7’s afternoon block on September 9.
