The Joint Task Force Central, together with the Joint Normalization Committee and other government agencies, has ramped up efforts in the Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Management Program following the recent surrender of 15 firearms in Maguindanao del Sur over the weekend.

The Task Force reported that these weapons were handed over to the 2nd Mechanized Battalion under Lt. Col. Jerome Peñalosa.

They came from 15 barangays in Talayan, Maguindanao del Sur, and included nine M79 Grenade Launchers, three RPG Launchers, two UZI Sub-Machine Guns, one KG-9 Semiautomatic Firearm, as well as magazines and RPG ammunition.

The undocumented firearms were presented to Brig. Gen. Oriel Pangcog, 601st Infantry Brigade Commander, during a simple program at the Talayan Municipal Training Center, attended by local officials, the Sangguniang Bayan, Barangay Council, and the Municipal Police Station.
