MANILA, Philippines —  The Department of Transportation has asked the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to summon the driver of an ambulance who illegally used the EDSA bus lane and nearly ran over a traffic enforcer of the DOTr’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation.

The DOTr-SAICT urged the LTO to issue a show-cause order to the driver or owner of the ambulance.

The patient transport vehicle is reportedly owned by Barangay Calzada, Tipas in Taguig, based on the stickers attached to the ambulance.

On Tuesday, the ambulance was flagged by SAICT traffic enforcers for using the EDSA busway without front or rear license plates.

An enforcer of the DOTr-SAICT was nearly hit after he tried to block the ambulance along the EDSA Carousel.

The DOTr said ambulances without patients on board and without license plates are not allowed to use the EDSA bus lane.
