MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake jolted Cebu yesterday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the temblor occurred at 2:53 p.m. and its epicenter was located 16 kilometers south of Poro town.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Poro and Talisay City in Cebu; Candijay, Duero, Inabanga, President Carlos Garcia, San Miguel, Sierra Bullones and Talibon in Bohol, and Baybay, Hilongos, Hindang and Matalom in Leyte.
Intensity 3 was felt in San Fernando in Cebu; Garcia Hernandez in Bohol; Albuera, Merida and Palompon in Leyte, and Ormoc and Sogod in Southern Leyte.
Phivolcs said the earthquake may cause damage to property and generate aftershocks.
