The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is celebrating its 50th edition by holding special screenings of iconic  MMFF movies from the past 50 years in various cinemas.

These screenings are being offered at an affordable rate of P50.  As part of the celebration, the festival is honoring one of the most awarded and iconic films, “Jose Rizal,” which has played a significant role in shaping the MMFF and Philippine cinema.

The special screening of “Jose Rizal” took place in SM Manila in the City of Manila, the festival’s host city this year.  The aim was to honor the film and its contribution to the industry.

According to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chief and  MMFF  Overall Concurrent Chairman Don Artes, “Jose Rizal” embodies the festival’s commitment to showcasing films that are artistically excellent and culturally significant.

The film portrays the life and final days of Dr. Jose Rizal, the country’s national hero. It was written by National Artist Ricky Lee and directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya. The movie captures the life, struggles, and legacy of our national hero, whose vision and courage continue to inspire Filipinos.
