MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared Sept. 11, 2024, the 107th birth anniversary of his late father, former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., as a special non-working day in Ilocos Norte.

Marcos, through Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, issued Proclamation 671, noting that the people of Ilocos Norte deserve to have the opportunity to celebrate the birth anniversary of the former leader.

“It is fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Ilocos Norte be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the President said in his proclamation.

The Marcos patriarch, who was born on Sept. 11, 1917, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, was the country’s 10th President.

He ruled the country for over 20 years, during which, for the majority of the period, the country was under Martial Law.
