President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday assured the public that the government is monitoring the situation amid the onslaught of Tropical Storm Enteng (international name: Yagi).

Marcos told Palace reporters that the government is prepared for the possible aftermath of the tropical storm. He said concerned agencies also follow the standard operating procedures amid the bad weather.

”So that’s what we are watching now and we’re prepared for the aftermath of all of this, and as usual nag-forward placement na tayo ng mga pangangailangan, we will just have to wait for the weather to see what it will do,” Marcos said.

”Hopefully umiwas sa atin but even if it does not, we have all the elements in place to support our people na magiging… mahihirapan dahil dito sa naging Bagyong Enteng,” he added.

State weather agency PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is still raised over nine areas in Luzon as Enteng is seen to make landfall over Isabela or Cagayan on Monday afternoon or evening.

Enteng was spotted 115 kilometers northeast of Infanta, Quezon or 85 km east southeast of Baler, Aurora, moving north northwestward at 15 km per hour.

The tropical cyclone was packing  maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, according to PAGASA.

Two people were reported dead and 10 others were injured in Central Visayas due to the impact of the tropical storm, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has said.

Classes have been suspended in some Luzon and Visayas areas due to Enteng. In Metro Manila, which was under TCWS No. 1, government work was also suspended.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
