More local flights cancelled due to bad weather

Two local airlines have cancelled 24 more flights due to bad weather conditions, the Manila International Airport Authority reported on Tuesday. 

As of 10 a.m., the affected flights due to the unfavorable weather condition brought by Typhoon Enteng were four domestic Philippine Airlines (PAL) Express flights to and from Laoag and Basco.

Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) and its sister airline CebGo also suspended 20 local flights going to and from Laoag, Tuguegarao, Cauayan, Virac, Naga, Busuanga, and Mindoro.

CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said that all airports under its supervision remain operational and have reported no damage amid the onslaught of Typhoon Enteng in the country. 

CAAP has reiterated Memorandum Circular 013-2023, issued by Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo.

This directive specifies that aircraft with a maximum certificated takeoff weight of 5,700 kg or less are prohibited from flying under storm signal number 1.

“Additionally, all passengers and crew on both commercial and general aviation flights must undergo security clearance and procedures in the passenger terminal building at CAAP-operated airports,” said Apolonio.

On Monday, CAAP Operations Center recorded 38 domestic flight cancellations at various airports due to inclement weather caused by Typhoon Enteng.

Passengers are advised to confirm their flight schedules with their respective airlines and arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure.
