NAVOTAS City Mayor John Rey Tiangco said on Thursday that the local government would build a “Bahay Kalinga” (shelter) for abandoned and abused children.
“We would dedicate this structure as a temporary shelter for children who were abandoned, neglected and abused. Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, loving environment. Bahay Kalinga is a symbol of our commitment to ensuring that even the most vulnerable among us are given the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential,” Tiangco said, noting the breaking of grounds for the project already started in Barangay North Bay Boulevard, South-Kaunlaran.
The initiative, he said, aims to empower abandoned and abused children before they are reintegrated into society.
“We will also make sure to provide opportunities for them to finish their education and help them achieve their dreams,” Tiangco said.
The planned three-story shelter will be equipped with facilities for medical care, psychological support and education.
Tiangco thanked Vice Mayor Tito Sanchez, the city councilors, department heads and youth officials for supporting the project.
