Six people reportedly died while two others remain missing in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Ferdie (international name: Bebinca) and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday.
Based on NDRRMC’s latest situational report, four of the reported fatalities—which were still subject to validation—came from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Two others were recorded in Zamboanga Peninsula.
As for the missing individuals, one each was logged in Zamboanga Peninsula and Western Visayas. There were also 11 injury cases from BARMM and Soccsksargen.
A total of 203,197 people or 47,166 families in 292 barangays were affected by the recent inclement weather. Of them, 13,825 remained inside evacuation centers, while 22,801 were seeking temporary shelters elsewhere.
Ferdie and the Habagat also caused P200,000-worth of damage to infrastructure in some areas.
They also left total damage to 12 houses, and partially damaged 85 more. There were 17 roads and three bridges that are also still not passable as of this time.
Power interruptions and disruption of some flights and seaport trips were also reported in some regions. Several schools and offices also opted to suspend classes and work, respectively.
NDRRMC said a total of P3,976,377 worth of assistance has been provided to affected residents in Bicol Region and Western Visayas.
Ferdie already exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday afternoon but its trough or extension and the Southwest Monsoon still brought rains in some areas. —Giselle Ombay/RF, GMA Integrated News
