MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has declared special holidays in five areas in the country for the celebration of local anniversaries and festivities.

Proclamation 688 declared Oct. 1 as a special non-working day in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro for the celebration of the Kawayanan Festival.

Marcos also issued Proclamation 689, declaring Oct. 8 as a special non-working day in Koronadal, South Cotabato for the commemoration of the city’s 24th Charter anniversary.

Proclamation 690 declared Oct. 12 as a special non-working day in Pamplona, Negros Oriental for the Yamog Festival.

Under Proclamation 691, the President declared Oct. 21 as a special non-working day in Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi to mark the creation of the municipality.

Oct. 21 was also declared a special non-working day in Pigcawayan, North Cotabato under Proclamation 692, for the commemoration of the town’s 71st founding anniversary on Oct. 20, which falls on a Sunday.

“To give residents of Pigcawayan the opportunity to participate in the occasion, the Sangguniang Bayan requested that Oct. 21, which falls on a Monday, be declared as a special non-working day in lieu of Oct. 20,” the proclamation said.

The proclamations were signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by the authority of the President on Sept. 13.
