MANILA, Philippines — Fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy has been arrested, Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. announced on Sunday.
“Nahuli na po si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy! (Pastor Apollo Quiboloy has been caught!)” Abalos posted on Facebook.
The social media post was accompanied by photos showing Quiboloy with several unidentified men.
According to Abalos, the controversial Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder was apprehended at 6 p.m. inside the compound of the religious group in Davao City.
No other details were provided.
Quiboloy is facing charges under Section 5(b) and Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
He is also facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig City court.
