House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said Wednesday that a resolution would be made as regards the budget of the Office of the Vice President amid the refusal of Vice President Sara Duterte to attend the deliberations.
Speaking to Palace reporters, Romualdez guaranteed that the matter would be dealt with accordingly.
He, however, said the chamber would appreciate Duterte’s presence in the budget hearing.
“We will come up with a resolution,” Romualdez said.
Duterte’s camp earlier said the Vice President would not be attending the continuing deliberations of a House panel on how her office uses its budget based on the findings of the Commission on Audit (COA).
In a letter addressed to House committee on good government and public accountability chairperson and Manila 3rd district Rep. Joel Chua, Duterte reiterated her call “to terminate this inquiry immediately” due to several reasons.
One of which, she pointed out, is that “the inquiry must only be in relation to legislation and should ideally have a proposed bill to guide the discussions therein,” citing a provision in the Constitution. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
