San Miguel took down Converge, 102-95, in Game 1 of their quarterfinals series in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Thursday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Beermen led by as much 16 points, 97-81, at the 3:44 mark of the fourth quarter before the FiberXers made a 14-2 run to inched closer, 99-95, with less than a minute left. However, debuting import EJ Anosike and CJ Perez’ free throws sealed the deal for San Miguel.

“Our composure really got out but in the end, it came back and we got the victory today,” San Miguel head coach Jorge Gallent said.

Anosike had 28 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, while June Mar Fajardo had 25 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals for San Miguel. CJ Perez and Kris Rosales had 11 points apiece.

Import Jalen Jones had 22 points, 12 boards, four assists, and two steals, while Justin Arana and Schonny Winston had 20 and 17 points, respectively.
