MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte said on Wednesday that she would “never again” team up with the Marcoses.
Duterte was the running mate of now President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the 2022 elections..
In an interview at the House of Representatives where she attended a hearing of the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability on Wednesday, Duterte said in mixed Filipino and English that she would bare her political plans for the 2028 presidential elections “in the fourth quarter of 2026.”
Duterte and Marcos campaigned for unity and won by a landslide in 2022. But the political ties did not last as first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos accused the vice president of doing nothing in the face of attacks against her husband by her father, the former president Rodrigo Duterte and her brothers. This led to Duterte's resignation from the Cabinet and as Education secretary, a position she concurrently held.
