Actress and pop star Sarah Geronimo’s iconic cover of the song “Maybe This Time” by Michael Martin Murphey has recently been circulating on social media with a trending dance challenge, wich caught the attention of both local and foreign celebrities and content creators.

After weeks of trending online, the pop star finally hopped on the trend during her performance at the opening of the Tuna Festival in General Santos City on Sept. 1. While singing the song’s pre-chorus, Geronimo couldn’t help but giggle as she danced the steps of the dance challenge together with her husband Matteo Guidicelli.

Notably, the “Maybe This Time” dance challenge was started by Ralph Xyrel Villaruz, a Grade 10 student from Zamboanga, who posted a video of himself dancing to the song out of boredom while waiting for his volleyball training to begin.

Geronimo released the cover of “Maybe This Time” in 2014, which was the theme song of the romantic comedy film of the same name starring her and actor Coco Martin. It was originally recorded in 1983 by Murphey as part of his album The Heart Never Lies.
