Speaker vows to double soldiers' subsistence allowance

Romualdez promised to double the allowance from P150 per day to P350.

On Saturday, the House of Representatives and the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) had a fellowship at Camp Nakar in Lucena City attended by House leaders and military officials, including Lt. Gen. Facundo Palafox 4th, Solcom chief.

Among the House officials present were Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Elizaldy Co, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations.

Romualdez said nearly P15 billion was needed to fund the increase.

“Almost P15 billion is needed to raise this allowance for our soldiers and members of the Armed Forces. I will make sure that this funding will be included in the 2025 national budget that we are discussing in line with the instruction of President Bongbong Marcos,” he said.

The appropriations committee is conducting budget deliberations.

Romualdez told the soldiers that the House members were aware of their and their families' sacrifice.
