To reaffirm its commitment to uplifting Filipino teachers who shape the nation’s youth, Gabay Guro is hosting back-to-back tribute events to celebrate National Teachers’ Month and World Teachers’ Day.

In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and key supporters including Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), PLDT Inc., and mWell, the annual Grand Gathering takes place tomorrow Sept. 29 at the Meralco Theater in Pasig City.

Themed “Teachers Inspiring Change, Building the Country’s Future,” the event will feature performances from prominent artists such as Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Gabby Concepcion, Pops Fernandez, and Sharon Cuneta.

“It’s great to be with people who shape our youth. That is very fulfilling for me,” Regine, who has been part of Gabay Guro for over a decade, said during the event’s media conference.

“If we can inspire them, right? We’re really able to give them happiness, and it feels wonderful. It’s something you can’t explain. This comes from our hearts,” Gabby added.

Joining them is a stellar list of performers including Martin Nievera, Randy Santiago, Jed Madela, Jona, Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Mark Bautista.

Teachers will have the chance to win premium raffle prizes, including cash rewards and a brand-new car, courtesy of several sponsors like Chery Tiggo, 555 Sardines, and Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. Registration for the event, which includes entry into the raffle, is currently open via Gabay Guro’s official Facebook page. Teachers should also coordinate with their local DepEd divisions for invitations.

Following the Grand Gathering, Gabay Guro will host its inaugural Wellness Fest on Oct. 6, 2024, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. This event will focus on health and wellness, featuring sessions led by mWell, a fully digital health platform. Participants can explore wellness services, engage in fitness activities, and attend a special Zumba session with the TML Crew.

The Wellness Fest is supported by various organizations, and while entry is free, teachers must pre-register through their local DepEd divisions. Both events will also be livestreamed on Gabay Guro’s Facebook page and YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.

Gabay Guro, now in its 17th year, is the flagship education program of MPIC, MPIF, and the PLDT-Smart Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of education in the Philippines through various initiatives.

Since its inception in 2007, the program has supported over 3,000 education scholars, provided thousands of laptops to schools, and trained over 50,000 teachers nationwide.
