StB Giga Factory Inc. inaugurated a P7-billion battery production facility in New Clark City in Tarlac province, representing a landmark investment that will support the Philippines’ transition to clean energy.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the launch of the country’s first advanced lithium iron phosphate battery manufacturing plant which was completed in just six months.

The facility is the first of three planned buildings. “We are proud that we got it done. But I’m quite impressed with StB Giga that they were able to do this in such a short time,” the President said in an interview.
He said the plant would support the country’s growing electric vehicle (EV) market, further reducing reliance on imported fuels.
“This investment sends a message to the world, [that] the Philippines is now ready to innovate [and] lead to become a go-to destination for high-tech, high-impact investments,” he said.
StB Giga Factory, positioned as the Philippines’ first true renewable energy company, will utilize cutting-edge battery technology crucial for stabilizing renewable energy grids and enhancing energy security.
“To see this project come to fruition after just a few months is a clear vote of confidence in the Philippine economy and the Filipino talent. An investment as big as this conveys one message, that Clark is able and ready to welcome more investments from various sectors across the globe,” said BCDA president and chief executive Joshua Bingcang.
The facility’s establishment will open up about 2,500 direct and indirect jobs for Filipinos once they reach their full production capacity by 2030.
It will have an initial production capacity of 300 megawatt-hours (MWh), enough to power about 6,000 electric vehicles or 60,000 homes in developing countries like the Philippines.
By 2030, the plant aims to reach its full capacity of 2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year, capable of producing batteries for around 40,000 electric vehicles or 400,000 homes.
The company plans to export 70 percent of its production to Australia, Southeast Asia, and North America, while the remaining 30 percent will be distributed within the Philippines.
“While bringing cutting-edge technology in clean energy, their presence here will help the whole government boost economic growth and provide better and more employment opportunities for the Filipino people,” said newly-appointed BCDA chairman Aristotle Lantion.
StB Giga is the first locator at the 120-hectare Filinvest Innovation Park within New Clark City.
