Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco has been relieved from his post, Malacañang has confirmed.

Newly-installed Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez answered in the affirmative when sought for confirmation on Monday.

Reports of Tansingco’s firing surfaced during the ongoing Senate hearing on the recent escape of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.

Tansingco said he has not yet formally received information about this development. He is currently attending the ongoing Senate hearing.

President Marcos earlier vowed that “heads will roll” in the wake of Guo’s escape from the country amid ongoing investigations linking her to the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) industry.
