Former Sen. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV announced on Saturday that he will run for mayor of Caloocan City in the 2025 elections.
“Today, I formally announce my candidacy for Mayor of Caloocan City in the 2025 elections. Change is coming,” Trillanes posted in a mix of English and Filipino on social media.
Earlier the same day, the former senator said he would have an important announcement on Saturday morning.
Trillanes previously took his oath with political party Aksyon Demokratiko in July.
The Malapitan family has been running Caloocan City since 2013, with incumbent Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan succeeding his father, Oscar, in 2022.
