Canadian duo Crash Adams performed in Manila for the first time at Trinoma, Quezon City, on August 17. The duo released hit singles “Give Me A Kiss,” “Destination,” “Caroline,” “Good Side,” and “California Girl” and became globally recognized across online platforms, especially on YouTube and TikTok.
Ahead of their show, Crash Adams faced the local media and revealed they remotely started exploring music together. After working together in a studio, they officially established Crash Adams. They named Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers, and The Killers as the artists who greatly influenced their music.
Discussing their creative process, they shared that they often switch up their approach to preparing music. For instance, one would compose the lyrics while the other works on the melodies. In particular, they recounted how they prepared their biggest hit, stating, “I was at my house having a barbecue outside, and I was feeling antisocial — it never happens, so I decided to lock myself in my basement, and the ‘Give Me a Kiss’ instrumental happened.”
The duo selected the same track as the best piece to represent them as its success elevated their career, “It was the first song that made the world know who we are, and that’s always going to be special for us, no matter what.”
When expressing differences regarding their craft, they asserted that transparency is their top priority, “If things are always perfect and everyone’s always agreeing, there’s no creative difference, and I don’t think it creates anything special. You should have contrasting opinions, as that’s where magic happens.”
Crash Adams claimed that their music is, without a doubt, always intentional, “From start to finish, everything needs to make sense, and everything needs to fall into place. There’s no throwaway lyrics ever.”
Further sharing their principles, they stated that they don’t strictly follow any rules as their main goal is to evoke emotions.
“Chappell Roan has had such a rise to fame. And why? Because the lyrics in her songs are true to her, and it’s a feeling that she’s giving her fans,” they added.
After being named one of the top artists on TikTok Canada from 2022 to 2023 and earning a Juno Nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year, the duo gratefully and optimistically regards the recognitions presented. They consider the attention they’re receiving as an opportunity to give back, “For us, the reason we’re doing this is to spread love, to make people happy, and to inspire people.”
On top of this, the duo announced their latest track, stating, “We have a new song called ‘8 Days’… It’s a play on words; seven days a week is not enough to think about you, so I’ll think about you eight days.”
Soon after the interview, the show commenced with an opening performance from the six-member OPM band Sugarcane. The folk-pop band played their hit songs “Paruparo,” “Leonora,” “Kung Maging Akin Ka,” and their latest single, “Pagbigyan,” showcasing their stunningly distinct sound.
Ultimately, the fans passionately welcomed Crash Adams as soon as they entered the stage with “Caroline,” followed by high-spirited tracks “Too Hot to Touch,” “Chemicals,” “Destination,” and “California Girl.”
With their track “Lucky,” the musicians encouraged the audience to pursue their passions regardless of what others say. Afterward, they covered the viral TikTok song “Stargazing” by Myles Smith.
“Monsters” proved their strong connection with their fans, exchanging lines throughout the song. Continuing the hype, they performed hit songs “Somewhere In Vegas,” “Right Foot First,” and “Good Side,” even captivating onlookers around the venue with their masterful command on stage.
To everyone’s surprise, they performed their recent track, “8 Days,” with OPM band Lola Amour’s vocalist, also performing the band’s song, “Falling.” As the collaboration thrilled the attendees, “Hotel Party” further amplified the energy in the activity center.
Crash Adams closed the night with upbeat tracks “Optimist” and “Give Me a Kiss.”
Lastly, the duo treated their Filipino fans to a post-show meet and greet, commemorating their first visit to the country.
