A fugitive former mayor accused of ties to Chinese criminal syndicates and money-laundering to the tune of more than 100 million pesos ($1.8 million), arrived in Manila on Sept. 6, 2024 after being caught by authorities and deported from Indonesia. During a press briefing upon her arrival, Alice Guo said she has ‘received death threats’ and was asking for help from authorities.
